canon selphy tips // printing two 3x4 photos

Since I began filming and sharing my Project Life albums one of the most frequent questions that I get asked is how I get two 3x4 photos on one 4x6 piece of photo paper using my Canon Selphy. I decided that the best quickest way to show you how I do it was to film a short video. You can view the video below:

So to recap:
Using the PicFrame app:
    1. Download the PicFrame app from the iTunes store. 
    and here from the Google Play store.  It is 0.99 for both.

    2. When you open the app change the ratio to 3.2 in the upper-right hand corner. 

    3. Click the second frame tempate.

    4. Add your two photos and resize as needed.

    5. Play around and change your border size, color, make it borderless, etc.

    6. Save the image

    7. Open it up in the Canon Selphy app (for iPhone and for Android) and PRINT! 

Using Photoshop:

    1. Open up your photos in photoshop and crop to 2.85 x 3.85 inches (if you want a white border, if not just crop to 3 x 4 inches.)

    2. Move them onto the 4x6 canvas and move until you have your desired border. 

    3. Select your Canon Selphy printer under print options and PRINT!

I hope that this helps answer any questions you may have. Using my Canon has revolutionalized the ease and convenience of my scrapping and especially my Project Life!

halloween costumes in january

Here it is, January 21st, and I am just now posting photos of my girls. In their Halloween costumes. From October.

Isn't that how it goes sometimes? You spend hours crafting and creating adorable costumes for your infant and toddler daughters. You are already running on fumes from working all day and being up all night with your 4 month old who still wants to party 3 or 4 times a night. Then the big day, Halloween, rolls around and the sky dumps buckets of water, your toddler acts like the very act of wearing her costume is going to kill her, and you end up snapping some very un-cute photos in a awful lighting and calling it done. 

Fast forward to this past weekend. While doing some spring cleaning I ran across Eleanor's owl costume and decided to just go for it! I yelled at Landen to grab my camera, hauled Eleanor into Adeline's room, dressed her up and snapped away. Right about then, Adeline woke up from her nap in the nursery and so I made the executive decision that today was going to be "Costume Picture Day!". (I may or may not have actually screamed this at Landen once or twice in an effort to get him motivated.) Adeline did much better with her costume and I was able to get some of my absolute favorite pictures of her. 

So here ya go. Halloween costumes in January, because sometimes you just have to roll with it.

Project Life 2014 // week 2

Another week in the books and I am still so stoked that I switched album sizes for this year! Nothing super special happened this week other than the Polar Vortex that came through and brought with it wind chills as low as -30 degrees. It was stinking cold y'all! 

I had enough photos this year to use two pocket page protectors, the 4-3x4 one and then the 2-4x6 size.  Once I added in my filler/journaling cards I had just the perfect amount of space.  I used a ton of embellishments from my stash (as you will see in the video) and one of my stamps from my shop.   Oh, my stamps are on sale by the way. Read to the bottom to find out more! 

I have had a lot of great response to my PL process videos. I am really enjoying creating them and I hope to continue to do so on as much of a regular basis as I can.  If you have any special requests for anything you would like to see shoot me a note here on the blog or on YouTube and I will do my best to fulfill them! flu and coming soon

This week has kicked our tail. Landen came down with the flu and has been more sick than I have ever seen him in our 9 years together. I have definitely missed my other half and my teammate in this gig called parenting. Today he seems to be better than he has in the last 5 so maybe things are turning around.  

I have week two of my Project Life album all filmed and photographed. Today during nap time I am going to work on editing and uploading. No promises but I hope to have it uploaded to YouTube either tonight or tomorrow with a blog post to talk about it in more detail. 

I am also working on the first months prompts for my One Little Word class that I am doing with my friend Carrie. I will post it next week. 

Last but not least, Carrie and I have a really cool opportunity to share with you in the next week! Think documenting, plus crafts, plus love all wrapped up in one really awesome package and tied with a bow! It's going to rock. 

Thank God for a 3 day weekend and for hopefully a recovering hubby. Maybe we can climb out of this funk and enjoy the long weekend.

project life 2014 // cover page and week 1

Hello! Today I finally got a chance to finish and photograph my cover page and week 1 for my 2014 Project Life album. If you are aren't familiar with what Project Life is, you should run...don't walk...over to this website to learn all about it! It is the main way that I document our families day to day things and all those memories that I don't want to forget. 

As I mentioned in this post, I am using a 6x8 Sn@p album. I chose green because it matches some of our decor and I store my albums on our large shelving where they can been seen and flipped through.  This is my first time working with an album that is so small and I was so hesistant to switch from a size that I have used for the last 3 years to something so much smaller but I LOVE IT! I feel like I can go at my own pace, I don't have a limited amount of space, and there is something about the compact size that makes me be picky about the photos that I am choosing instead of just printing them all and figuring out a way to make them fit.  I talk about this more in the video at the bottom of this post.

This is my cover page. The 2014 cut fie came from a class I am participating in over at Studio Calico called Day by Day. All the photos in my album were taken with either my iPhone of my Canon DSLR camra. The photos I printed using my Canon Selphy and this paper and ink. This is the backside of the coverpage.  The letterpressed card came in a Noel Mignon kit and the gold Thickers and items in the confetti pocket were from my stash.

My weekly spread came together very easily.The week 1 card was whipped up in about 30 seconds in photoshop and can easily be adapted for each week. I also created a 4x6 one just in case my week starts with that size pocket protector. I used a lot of elements from my stash as well as the Maggie Holmes Flea Market Mini Project Life Kit. The flip pocket that I used on one of the pages are a favorite of mine and you can find them here. The "Watch. Life is happening right now." stamp is in my shop.

I love how it all lays so cute and compact in my album. I am so glad that I decided to be more flexible this year. I love how it looks!

monthly goals // january 2014

This is the month for letting go and preparing for the year ahead. Colder weather means lots of time at home together and lots of coffee and family time. I am working on my weight loss goal along with my best friend and focusing on what my family is putting in our bodies.  Numbers 4 and 5 have been rolling around in my head since November and are definitely a driving principle in my life right now. Happy January everyone!
